She said she was a daddy’s girl. She said she wasn’t going to cry but from the moment she decided she wanted to have a first look with her dad, Sarah was trying to hold it together. She got dressed in her gorgeous gown, donned her sparkling rose gold jewelry and her sister, Kristie looked her over to make sure everything was perfect. Then it was time. The bridesmaids asked her dad, Tom, to come upstairs and see his baby daughter for the first time in her wedding gown. When Sarah heard he made it to the top of the stairs, her eyes welled with tears. She turned to him and they started flowing down her cheek. Tom gathered her in a large embrace and they swayed together. Tom finally pulled back and told Sarah that she was beautiful.

These are my favorite moments as a photographer. The intimate, meaningful moments. Marriage is the bringing together of two families. Families are so important. They are there for you through the times of struggle and the times of joy. And seeing these two families come together this weekend was extra special. There truly is so much love for Sarah and Nick. I have to say that the rain did put a bit of a damper on our time for bridal party pictures but we made it work. We were able to get some stunning pictures of Sarah and Nick on the porch of the Eagle Ridge Lodge, and boy is this one of my favorite venues! And to boot, Galena is one of my favorite places in the midwest to photograph a wedding. So much beautiful landscape. It’s simply perfect.
