As he walked her down the aisle, her eyes started swelling with tears. Kyle gently hugged his mom, Mare, and she took her seat next to an empty space. She looked down and softly touched the single rose surrounded by baby’s breath; the rose dedicated to Kyle’s Dad and Mare’s husband, David. Though he wasn’t there physically, you certainly felt his presence all day. Molly, Kyle’s sister, asked that I photographed a special bracelet that she wears every day in memory of her dad along with Kyle’s wedding ring. As I set up that shot, I couldn’t help but think of how special that picture will be for this family. And this is what it’s all about. Legacy. The legacy of the people that shape who we are and what we become. The legacy that I am honored to help start. These pictures will be the beginning of something wonderful for this family but also honoring the legacy of the family members that are no longer with is. What a gift!
